3D Valley Featured 3D Artist of May 2007 – André Kutscherauer. André is an 3D artist from Germany and work for a photo studio as a 3D operator to create photo realistic design visualizations. 3DValley Featured 3D Artist of April 2007 – Eran Dinur. Eran is a self thought 3D artist with a passion for realistic landscape scenery and lighting. He mainly works with Vue infinite and 3D Studio Max to create his images. Beside landscape imagery his work also contains many other subjects. Eran’s career started as a successful musician for theater and film. Currently he is working as an independent 3D artist. Read the interview to get to know Eran and his work a bit better.

When you start out with 3D Studio MAX you will likely start with trying out different tools and features and the basics. Something that should be included in those basics, but is often left out, is using hotkeys. As you already know, or will certainly find out soon, creating 3D art is a time-consuming activity. Using hotkeys and the mouse efficiently can save you tons of time. At first you may need to spend some time looking up the hotkey (see printer-friendly version of this tutorial here), but once you memorize them through using them, they will allow you to produce results at least twice as fast. When you modeling for example (moving, scaling, rotating, etc.), with one hand on the mouse, you will have your other hand free to press one of the hotkeys.

3DValley Featured 3D Artist of January 2007 – Soa Lee. Soa is a 3D modeler/ illustrator from South Korea. Soa has been working in the CG industry for almost 9 years. She started out in the animation industry and is currently working freelance for several game producing companies. In most of her work appear female characters, these female characters tend to be dreamy, fantastical and picturesque. “Reality serves as a tool to feel the dream as a reality” is what Soa says about her own work.
